What Jonas is Doing...

Toe-Heads

0
Jonas received the coolest set of Mr. Potato Heads for his birthday. It's a family of a mom and dad and two little heads. Jonas affectionately calls them "toe-heads". I took some photos of Jonas playing in his room with the toe-heads a couple months ago.

Visiting the Pumpkin Patch

0
So, obviously I am catching up on some photos that I've gotten behind in posting. These are some photos of Jonas at the pumpkin patch this year. We went to the same patch as last year which seems to be our own little tradition. Last year he wasn't quite sure what to do, but this year Jonas' favorite thing to do was sit on the pumpkins. He also tried to pick the big ones up, unsuccessfully.

Learning Bass Equipment

0
Jonas has already had his first bass lesson, so Jonathan decided to teach him about bass equipment next. Jonas had a blast learning (by way of pushing the buttons on) Jonathan's bass pedals and amplifier. These photos were taken a couple months ago... sorry for the delay in posting. As you can see, Jonas loved it!

For the Love of a Book

0
One of Jonas' favorite things to do has always been to read. I think I've posted before about how he will sit in his room for extended periods of time and just flip through his favorite books. That is something he still loves to do and I finally caught some of the action with my camera.

His current favorite book is The Little Engine That Could. He calls it the "train book". Trains are also a recent favorite.

We Do NOT Give Mommy Heart Attacks

2
Ok, let me start this out by saying that we still have most of our furniture from when we got married. Most of that furniture was inexpensive (in cost and construction) because just married couples tend to not have much money. Our kitchen table is no exception. It was a prize find at Value City and we were quite pleased at the deal we got for it. It's a glass-top table with four light, cushioned chairs. Not the most comfortable, but it serves its purpose.

Space in our kitchen is also very limited. The high chair that we have for Jonas attaches to the chair, which takes up practically no space. Now to the reason for my near heart attack...

We have been addressing an issue with Jonas that we believe is related to (1) terrible twos and (2) Jonas' constant desire to test his limits. We have had to "scold" him more and more lately for pushing away from the table with either his feet or his hands and lifting the chair onto 2 instead of 4 legs. You can probably see where this is going...

Last night he pushed himself a little to hard and fast and toppled the over onto the floor. I jumped up so fast to try and catch him that I spilled what I was eating. Of course he started screaming and I started freaking out. He was holding his wrist in such a way that we thought it was broken. We both swore that it looked broken and it called for a trip to the ER. So here I am running around the house trying to get necessities together to go to the emergency room while Jonathan is taking him screaming out to the car. As Jonathan tried to put him into his car seat, Jonas began to push him away with what we thought was the broken wrist. Ummmm...

So as it turns out, he was fine, just a little shaken up and wanting his Mommy. But of course that's after I lose about 2 years off my life from nearly having a heart attack! Side note: you would think that after all this he would stop pushing away from the table, but no. The boy is strong-willed for sure.

Noticing a Trend

0
Jonas talks, a lot. We're not always sure exactly what he's saying, but much of his babble is somewhat coherent. He's been stringing together words to make 3-word sentences, like "baby says wahhh", "sheep says bahhh", etc. Perhaps the funniest thing he says is "say excuse me" after I tell him to excuse his poot, or "say thank you" instead of just "thank you". Often times I get "say thank you daddy", even when I've asked him to tell me thank you. We're working on it!

The latest trend that I've noticed is with the words blanket, jacket, and chocolate (all ending in 'ket' or a similar sound). We're not sure why, but he has made these three words much harder to say than they need to be. For instance, he says "blanky-et" for "blanket", "jacky-et" for "jacket", and just today called chocolate "chocy-et".

Oh, and one more super-cute tidbit related to the blanket... today I asked him to come downstairs with me and on his way he stopped in the middle of his room, and in all seriousness said, "Blanky-et, ehre are you!" The child has a thing for his blanket (the waffle kind - he has four of them!). I may need to start doing what my friend Cassie does with her kids and create a list of Jonas-isms! You should go read some of what Harper and Calvary say... they're hilarious!

Missing the Swings

0
With all the rain and cold we've had lately, it makes me long for warm afternoons of chasing Jonas around the playground. I found this photo on my phone from a couple months ago. Jonas loves the swings! Fortunately it's looking like the
weekend will be a bit nicer, so maybe there will be some swinging in our not so distant future.

Mommy... Daddy...

0
A couple nights ago as I was fixing dinner and waiting for Jonathan to get home, I heard Jonas saying "Mommy... Daddy... Mommy... Daddy." I looked into the living room and found that he had pulled down a picture frame we have of mine and Jonathan's pictures and was pointing to me and Jonathan and naming us, Mommy... Daddy. It was so cute. I managed to capture a picture with my phone.

Later on he was standing at the door saying "Daddy, where are you?" Again, total cuteness! What a daddy's boy!

Crazy Fun

1
I recently got a MacBook Pro for my photography business and as with all new initiations into the world of Mac, Jonas and I had some fun in the Photobooth! Check these out!

Little Parrot

Jonas has truly reach the mimicking stage. He will repeat EVERYTHING we say. It's funny to hear him do it too. For instance, when he asks for something, I'll give it to him and sometimes say "There you go" not really thinking much of it. Now after he asks (and says please), he follows it with a sweet "Ehr yeh go" and a big grin on his face.
